The lead unit on the MNYRO was having problems as the train approached Leyden. The unit wouldn't load due to high voltage problems. The locomotive help desk determined the lead unit should be isolated and just used for controlling the train on the journey west.

While the skies were crystal clear, the morning of one-eleven-eleven (1/11/11) was a very cold one! The day started off right around 0°F. In the siding at Leyden, the MNYRO is preparing to stop to check out an engine problem and let the westbound Zephyr around on the main.

The morning light was fantastic in this Winter Wonderland scene. The only thing that may have made this better is if this was an eastbound instead of a westbound. Here, the MNYRO is in the siding with a red signal dead ahead. The train would sit here for nearly an hour waiting for a delayed California Zephyr.
