The only other location between Denver and the Moffat where you can find these target signals is at Utah Junction and east Leyden. Unfortunately, these are going to be coming down very soon. For the 20 minutes leading up to the shot, the skies behind me were crystal clear with great sunlight shining down. Then, two minutes before the train showed up, of course, a huge cloud came in a killed the lighting. Oh well! The train in the shot is an empty ballast train, headed back to Wyoming for re-loading. The train had a standard Zephyr consist, so I'm not sure why the extra unit was there. My guess would be either that one of the two training units had a problem, or one of the three units is being transported to Chicago, perhaps for some maintenance. If you are at west Leyden when the Zephyr is passing Chemical, you'll be hard-pressed making it to east Leyden ahead of him!
