The train left Denver Union Station on time, but had two delays in the first seven miles of its trip west, neither being Amtrak's fault. The first problem was a Union Pacific freight train stuck in emergency at Utah Junction (on the diamond leading to the Belt). Took an hour for that train to get out of Amtrak's way. The second delay came in Arvada when the crew on the train contacted the dispatcher and requested police! Turns out there was a domestic dispute between a man and a woman and the woman needed to be removed from the train and taken in to custody. The train should have a straight shot through to Grand Junction with minimal delays as there isn't much rolling on the Moffat on this first day of winter. Almost as interesting as the weather is the power on the train. A New Image ES44DC, a Heritage 2 C44-9W, and a Heritage "Goat Boat" C44-9W lead up the train west. The first unit (to the left) is an ET44C4 - GE's newest model - and the second unit (to the right) is a C44-9W, a staple in BNSF's fleet since the early 2000s.
