The train is charging west at about 60 MPH (track speed) as it hustles through Leyden. The train has to take advantage of the higher track speed while it can, because in another four miles or so, it's time to slow to about 30 MPH! This coal train was loaded at West Elk on the North Fork Branch. Coal traffic on the Craig Branch (to the Energy Mine) has all but disappeared in the past few weeks.
