Lately, BNSF has been running their Provo-Denver manifest at such a time that it tends to descend down the Front Range sometime in the morning hours. This is great not only because the lighting tends to be better, but a lot of the time it results in a meet with the Zephyr. Did not get the Zephyr on this day, but was very happy to come across a Warbonnet C44-9W on the head end.

This Warbonnet is in surprisingly good shape for 2020! Other than the orange air conditioner and antenna on the cab roof. This is one of 20 Warbonnets in the 4700-series that were delivered in Warbonnet paint with "BNSF" in 1997, after the ATSF/BN merger. Because these units were never actually ATSF units, they are sometimes referred to as "Fake-Bonnets". Still, great catching this one at Eisele (Clay) on the Provo-Denver.
