After two decades of the American flag on the long hood and wings on the nose, UP has changed their official paint scheme. The flag has been moved to either side of the short hood and the long nose just reads "Union Pacific" again. The wings have also, sadly, been removed from the nose. However, after a winter with a lot of snow fall and a ton of rain this spring, the South Platte have flowed a bit over its banks! A southbound UP manifest has a Kansas City Southern "Retro-Belle" SD70ACe on the point as the train crosses the river. Cows in the distance seem to be enjoying the plentiful grass mixed with water as a southbound UP manifest, with a KCS lead, roll by south. UP has indulged EMD with the purchase of around 100 SD70ACe-T4s, but that's about it. One such example, UP 3012, is seen here on a northbound train in the siding at Platteville.
