A major construction project has demolished the bridge (known as the "elevated deck") that I-70 used to run across and I-70 now runs through a trench in this area, with the tracks at the north end of the 36th street yard now crossing over I-70. This entire corridor has changed quite a bit in the past decade as RTD's commuter rail was built up. As part of the agreement to acquire some of UP's land, RTD paid for the addition of a second main track and installation of CTC through here. This is a scene that was far more common 15 years ago. Today, it is more common to find oil trains on Bypass 1 and 2, but coal trains still occasionally show up, such as on this day.
