Unfortunately, DS-378 is unable to get the switches to west Fraser to lock up. As a result, he cannot get a signal at the west switch, either. Conductor Antonio is walking down to the switch in order to take it into hand throw. The train will then get authority from the dispatcher to pass the red signal and proceed east on the main track.

The P42DCs that are currently power for the Winter Park Express head east on the main at Fraser, about to pass their train that is tied down on the siding at Fraser. At the east end, the power will pass the signal and then re-enter the siding from the east to attach onto the train.

AMTK 146 and AMTK 75 roll east on the main by the depot at Fraser. If you look closely, you can see the five Superliners for the Winter Park Express, tied down in the siding in the distance. AMTK 146 will be the new leader for the trip east back to Denver.

I thought this was kind of a cool view, the power for the Winter Park Express running alongside the Superliners that make up the Winter Park Express! The Superliners are tied down in the siding at Fraser as the power passes by on the main. The crew already has the red marker lights turn on for the new end of the train for the trip east to Denver.

The power for the Winter Park Express is back in the siding at Fraser, clear on the main track. UP's dispatcher is now free to run trains through here as the Ski Train will not need the main again until it is time to depart east this afternoon.

Conductor Chris has removed the orange bag that was covering the coupler of AMTK 75. This bag prevented snow and ice from building up in the knuckle of AMTK 75 when it was leading west. Now, it is going to be the trailing unit, so the bag has been removed and the power is about to couple onto the train. The orange bag will then be placed over the coupler of AMTK 146, the new leader for the trip east.

Conductor Antonio and conductor Chris watch as AMTK 75 is coupled up with the Superliner in the siding at Fraser. After performing two "stretches" to ensure the coupling is secure, the power cords that provide power from the HEP (Head End Power) will be hooked up to the cars.

The crew has the Winter Park Express Ski Train put back together in the siding of Fraser. You can see the orange coupler bag has been placed over the coupler of AMTK 146, which will lead the train east back to Denver. This is the view from the platform enclosure at Fraser. Note the sign, indicating the elevation: 8,574 feet (2,613 meters) above sea level.

At the east end of Fraser, the California Zephyr knocks down an approach (yellow over red) signal. The train is headed won the main for its scheduled station stop. Not too far in the distance, you can see folks enjoying a day on the tubing hill in Fraser. Further in the distance, you can see a few runs at the Winter Park Ski Resort.

The westbound Zephyr is about to cross Eisenhower Drive in Fraser, approaching the station for its scheduled stop. The stop will last about 10 minutes as Fraser is a smoke stop, allowing passengers to get off the train for a few minutes for a smoke, fresh air, or just to walk around.

The westbound California Zephyr is conducting its daily station stop at Fraser. Not everyone on the platform is headed to or coming from Fraser. Fraser is a fresh air stop, where passengers can step off the train for fresh air, a quick smoke, or a leg stretch. Rumor has it that Amtrak is working to install a heated platform here at Fraser, reducing the risk of someone slipping and falling on ice.
