The trailing SD70ACe is kicking doing a slight 1970s GE impersonation, with visible exhaust kicking up. The train is between Flat and Byers Canyon. The train will hold the main to allow the Canyon Spirit to run around it. The Canyon Spirit will run through the siding. Most of the time, the train that arrives first takes the siding. However, Tabernash is a bit unique as there is a grade crossing on the siding, but not on the main. Consequently, the first train to arrive typically holds the main at Tabernash. So, even though this eastbound is between switches, you cannot see the siding as it is quite a distance away, behind the camera. Hopefully, the Canyon Spirit geeps will return soon. But in the meantime, the SD70Ms lead the eastbound train out of Plain, toward Tunnel 1. As they did 20 years ago, they still run occasion light power west out of Denver. They will either go to Glenwood Springs or Grand Junction to be used as swing helpers.
