Typically, the westbound train departs North Yard in the darkest hours of the night. However, problems with UP's MPUNY (on the Joint Line) resulted in the power on that train getting to North Yard much later than expected. That power as needed for the MNYGJ (seen here), delaying the departure of the MNYGJ. The result was a great daylight chase on the Moffat. They are waiting on DS-78 to throw the switch at the west end of Granby, and to give them a restricting (flashing red) signal to back up to the train. Of course, being five days to Christmas, the leaves are long gone as the westbound Zephyr traverses the single track mainline.
