However, very close to the east switch is the top of a small hill and the tracks head back down a 1% grade. Here, a coal load is cresting the top of the grade at east Mesa. The second half of the train contains the component that connects the top of the windmill to the base. Both halves can be seen here with the Rockies (including Longs Peak) in the distance. This windmill train is approaching the Ulster Street grade crossing. The rails laying along the track will be used for in the upcoming (re)construction of the Limon Sub and RTD's commuter line to Denver International Airport. Once reaching Denver, the train will make an abrupt turn north and toward Cheyenne and the Overland Route for the trip to Utah. A part of that new energy is wind power. And the way to move those components around is by rail! Here is a "windmill train" on it's way to Milford, UT from Hutchinson, KS. This train contains the tops of the windmills. The train is along the stretch of track between Havana Street and Ulster Street near the Stapleton Development.
