(Incidentally, UP uses "WP" on units that are scheduled for retirement -- it does not represent a unit that was once on the Western Pacific roster!) In reality, the first two units (an ES44AC and an SD70M) are the only two even on, let alone loading. The six 40-series units trailing may well be headed for a torch. They've all been stored in a "dead line" at Burnham for the past six months. By comparison, UP 7814 is one of the newest units on UP's roster, having been delivered on March 8, 2008 - just over one month before this shot was taken! Prior to the construction of Denver International Airport, Stapleton International Airport had north/south runways that went right over the tracks here.
