100 covered hoppers of grain work their way south with three elephant-style C44-9CWs. The second and third units wear the warbonnet paint scheme, the second of which is still an unpatched Santa Fe unit!

When Santa Fe and Rio Grande competed to get to Denver from Pueblo (prior to the Joint Line), there were three spots where the two lines crossed each other with a grade separation. Crews is one such spot. The Rio Grande trackage passed underneath the Santa Fe trackage. Here, a BNSF northbound unit grain train is heading toward Denver.

In the late 1980's, Santa Fe ran a hot intermodal train between Big Lift (south of Denver) and La Juanta. It was called DVLJ (and LJDV). One common source of power were GP39-2's like this one! Nearly 20 years later, this unit is being used as the Colorado Springs switcher.

The Colorado Springs switcher sits outside the Springs depot. UP 5245 is a special GP40-2. It was the FIRST Rio Grande unit ever repainted. This is formerly DRGW 3122, which was repainted in mid-1997.

A manifest running from Denver to Pueblo (with three pumpkins on the point) is moving slow at Greenland. The manifest is right on the heals of a heavy, slow-moving coal load. Thus, the manifest is moving at restricted speed. A thunderstorm is brewing in the background.

BNSF 5698, a GE AC4400CW make a rare appearance on the head-end of a BNSF coal empty. The temperature here at Palmer Lake was around 40 degrees, and your breath could clearly be seen, two days prior to the first day of summer.
