The train is crossing 88th Avenue on the Front Range Sub. If you look in the distance just to the left of the train, you can see a couple of apartment buildings. This is the new south switch for the siding of Broomfield after the north end was extended roughly 2,000 feet to the north. Broomfield previously had two grade crossing within the siding. The trains track warrant only goes as far as the north switch. The north switch will also have to be aligned for the main. This would be one heck of a ride, traveling over very rare passenger mileage. Originally, I had planned to chase the train north to Cheyenne and beyond. This is a special chartered passenger train, organized by High Iron Travels. The train is headed toward the AAPRCO (the American Association of Private Rail Car Owners) convention in Spokane, WA. The train will take about a week getting there, however, making a few layovers along the way. The train will traverse the Montana Rail Link, crossing Bozeman Pass and Mullan Pass.
