Case-in-point is this westbound Z-train clipping along on Main 1, running away from the storm passing through in the distance. The train will stop and receive a new crew before continuing east toward Cheyenne. The train, like so many on the Overland Route, is headed for Bailey Yard in North Platte, NE. The diesel on the train is UP 7813. It is an ES44AC delivered to UP a little over a year earlier. It's dynamic brakes are used when proceeding down a grade so the train doesn't have to rely entirely on air brakes. There were a fair number of railfans chasing the train on this day...and not all of them used the best judgment!
