The control tower you see in the distance is not that of Denver Internal Airport, but rather Colorado Air and Space Port, a public airport located less than 9 miles southeast of DIA. Being that it is September, the creek is probably little more than a stream, probably only a few feet across (if that). However, at this spot just west of Bennett, the peaks still protrude over the top of the horizon. This coal train is running 2x1 - 2 units on the point and 1 DPU on the tail end. A bit of pink is still holding on to the north as this shot was taken during the same minute as the sunset. The train is moving along US-36 near track speed, around 45 MPH. Unfortunately, access to the trestle is limited. However, with a little bit of hiking along some ATV roads, you can find your way to this long-lens shot, great for westbounds coming across the bridge.
