A very late Amtrak 6 passes by the location of what's left of the State Bridge Lodge. The lodge was established in 1890 and, regretablly, it burned to the ground just four days before this picture was taken.

For over five years, the siding of Yarmony was Out Of Service on the Moffat Mainline. In November 2000, an accident took the siding out and it wasn't until March 14, 2006 that UP finally got the siding reopened. Now, the siding was lengthened by nearly 3000 feet at the same time, but it still took a very long time. This coal empty is actually tied down in the siding at Yarmony, waiting for a crew to arrive from Grand Junction.

The MNYPV has a fresh crew onboard as it departs west out of Bond. After crossing the Colorado River on the bridge in the foreground, the train will enter the 647 foot-long Yarmony Tunnel. This is the beginning of the Dotsero Cutoff and the east end of the Glenwood Springs Subdivision.

Descending down from Craig Branch, this coal load is creeping along on a yellow signal with a red signal in sight. Amtrak 5 is just coming through Bond so this 10,000 ton train has to stop momentarily to let Amtrak proceed west.

Once a scheduled station stop for the Rio Grande Zephyr, Bond is now nothing more than a checkpoint for Amtrak, and the train doesn't stop as it rolls through the one busy yard.

Almost 130 miles west of Denver, this coal empty has come to a stop on the east siding of Bond. The signals for the center crossover are red because the train is now waiting for a relief crew coming from Grand Junction. Cars from the Craig Branch (spotted by the Phippsburg Local) sit on the two outside tracks.
