In between Flat and Kremmling, Amtrak can really move along. There are places where track speed allows Amtrak to reach 79 MPH! This picture was taken from my passenger window (while Damian was driving) on US-40 parallel to the tracks, just west of Flat.

After being out of service for over five years, Yarmony is back in action as a 7,500+ foot long siding. Amtrak 5 heads west out of the "new" end of the block.

Once a scheduled station stop for the Rio Grande Zephyr, Bond is now nothing more than a checkpoint for Amtrak, and the train doesn't stop as it rolls through the one busy yard.

Two engines and eleven cars, 52 axles in all, make their way through the open grasslands at Range. Amtrak is nearing the end of the Dotsero cutoff and will soon be heading into Glenwood Canyon!

Slowing down on the east siding, the California Zephyr prepares to make one of its most popular station stops, the stop at Glenwood Springs. The Colorado River is running nice and full on the left side of the picture.

With its station stop completed, Amtrak starts to slowly pull west away from the depot at Glenwood Springs. From here, Amtrak will continue to Grand Junction, Salt Lake City, Reno, Sacramento, and Emeryville.
