The crew will cut the power away and run around the train, tacking it onto the east end so it is ready to head west this evening. You can see the exhaust the P42DCs are kicking up as they throttle up to accelerate. In the distance, the Winter Park Express Ski Train is currently making a reverse move. It will back out the west end of Fraser onto the main, the come east on the main to the Fraser station to pick up passengers. The station stop is nearly complete, and the lead P42DC has let out a couple of horn blasts, warning passengers it is time to climb on board. A decade ago, I never would have expected to see a pair of Amtrak trains stopped in Fraser! Once the Zephyr is gone, the Ski Train will pull up to the station on the main and pick up its passengers. Many people have gotten off the train for a fresh air (or smoke) brake. It is not too uncommon for someone on the train to get off and experience snow for the first time! An eastbound BNSF manifest was the last. Here, running right on time, the eastbound California Zephyr passes by the eastbound Winter Park Express Ski Train. The road leads to, among other things, the Fraser Tubing Hill. Another popular winter destination for people, particularly those that do not ski or snow board. It is currently around 20°F (-7°C).
