UP has indulged EMD with the purchase of around 100 SD70ACe-T4s, but that's about it. One such example, UP 3012, is seen here on a northbound train in the siding at Platteville. Interestingly, the units are only four years apart in terms of their build dates. The SD70M was built in 2002 and the SD70ACe was built in 2006. The SD70M, Phase 2 specifically. I was always a fan of the SD70M in general, but I really like the slightly flared radiator on the Phase 2 version of the model. Looks like it has suffered from engine overheat with some scared paint on the long hood which, unfortunately, has taken out quite a bit of the American flag as well.
