A heavy northbound sand train slowly approaches the Sheridan Blvd underpass in Westminster. The Heritage 2 scheme is becoming less and less common on BNSF, but there are still quite a few units sporting the scheme. Mainly C44-9Ws, such as BNSF 5290.

A chartered passenger special, setup by High Iron Travels, heads north on BNSF's Front Range Sub past the new Commuter Rail station in Westminster. This station is part of the "B-Line" that, in theory, will eventually reach Boulder and Longmont. For the time being, this is the end of the line.

For about a decade, the SD70MAC reigned king on BNSF coal trains. Today, it is somewhat rare to find a pair lashed up together! However, that was the case on a beautiful Thursday afternoon as this pair of SD70MACs bring up the rear of a northbound coal empty. Longs Peak makes for a great backdrop as the train hustles across Wadsworth Blvd in Westminster.

To alleviate some congestion on the Brush and Angora Subs, BNSF will frequently send a few coal empties north on the Front Range Sub. One such example is this empty, which is headed for a mine in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. Here, the train is passing underneath 92nd Avenue in Westminster.

Far from home, this CSX C40-8W is putting in some power sharing miles as it heads north on BNSF's Front Range Sub. This is the first C40-8W that I've seen (well, at least shot) in nearly six years. Highlighting the fact that older power is being utilized as much as possible by railroads right now.

This northbound manifest sports a very colorful consist as it charges north at track speed through Westminster. The train is just about to pass underneath 92nd Avenue in Westminster. With no southbounds nearby, the train has a warrant to Longs Peak north of Longmont!

It's great having Longs Peak, one of Colorado's numerous 14ers, right on the Front Range. From Littleton to La Salle, it's always fun to try to get a picture with Longs Peak in the frame! Here, the "stinky slinky" is crossing Old Wadsworth Blvd in Westminster with Longs Peak standing tall in the background.
