In addition to the standard patch on the cab and the shield on the nose, note that "Union Pacific" has actually been placed on the long hood! The yellow frame stripe isn't helping out either. At this point, the Ski Train was still running with the three Rio Grande GP60s (3154, 3155 and UP 5702). On this afternoon, the train had been specially chartered (I do not recall by whom or for what purpose). The train just met an eastbound coal load and is charging west in the afternoon sun. A hawk (or falcon? I'm not a bird expert!) circles around above the train, appreciating its beauty. Or, you might suggest it is simply looking for a meal... It was also my first attempt at a night shot with a train. Amtrak 6 flies past the signal at the west end of Leyden at 10pm.
