20 years ago, who would have guessed that one day the most common paint schemes passing through Cliff would be UP and BNSF!? 20 years ago, nobody had heard of BNSF and UP was hardly a mountain railroad. But today, a westbound BNSF manifest meets with an eastbound UP coal load at Cliff.

Approaching the grade crossing at Cliff, this coal load is slowing to a stop. It is waiting on a westbound BNSF Denver-Provo train which is already out of Crescent. DS-82 had the coal train hold the main because the BNSF train will be stuck at cliff for awhile due to eastbound traffic. And there are westbounds at Rollins and Tolland all waiting to continue west.

The last shot of the day has UP 6961 (formerly an AC6000CW now converted to an AC44/60CW) crossing over South Boulder Creek at the bridge at MP 37.50.

Even though I was track side by 9am, I didn't such much moving until 2pm. This was largely why. UP had a whole fleet of MOW equipment stretching from one end of the Cliff siding to the other!

This may be a view from Cliff that you aren't used to. Most shots at Cliff from either the west end or the east end. Not many come from in between the two! This eastbound coal load is meeting a westbound empty and is now about a quarter of a mile away from the east end of the siding.
