Without a doubt my personal favorite B-B unit (at least since the GP30) is the GP60. The dynamic brake intake is very unique. Here, a GP60 (with an animated and friendly engineer!) leads the Buck Local down the Front Range Sub into Denver.

BNSF's Buck Local received a warrant from Longmont down to Clear Creek. It is about to pass the signal leading in to Utah Junction. Nothing like an all-EMD lash up!

BNSF 3001, a GP40-2, has been assigned to various locals in Colorado for several years. The graffiti along the conductors side is a relatively recent addition to the New Image scheme. Amazing how little respect some people have.

A pair of GP38-2s in matching paint sit on a stub track near the depot in Longmont. This power is used either for the Longmont Turn or the Longmont Switch.

Just south of Longmont, BNSF's daily HDENLAU heads north near Ogallala Road. On a clear day, the Front Range of the Rockies would be visible in the distance.

A rare set of power heads down the Front Range Sub through Longmont. A pair of Canadian Pacific AC4400CWs are running light (with no train), heading back to Denver. Believe it or not, these are the first Canadian Pacific units that I've actually shot and placed on this website!

The HLAUDEN makes its way down the center of Atwood Street in Longmont on an otherwise quiet Sunday evening. The power on the train is a quartet of Dash-9s running elephant style.

Main Street USA! Also know as Atwood Street in Longmont. The Front Range Sub runs right up the middle of Atwood Street and a Valmont coal empty is currently occupying the tracks.

Fall colors haven't quite reached their peak at most places in the Denver-Metro area. Still, the colors in the trees here are looking good as the HLAUDEN has a signal to enter into the yard and pass underneath I-76.

This Laurel, MT to Denver, CO manifest has nearly reached the end of its journey. The head end is just entering the Restricted Limits of Clear Creek. Once the entire train is within the Restricted Limits, it will release it track warrant.

After receiving a new warrant south of Longmont, this southbound has just started pulling at Vermillion Road. The new warrant will take the train south to MP 25 in Boulder.

A few miles north of Longmont at Vermillion Road, this southbound HPASSAG has stopped so as not to block any crossing. Two southbounds ahead of it and the crew will hold here until they get a warrant south of Longmont. Note the new ties along the side of the track. Looks like BNSF is planning some maintenance for the summer!

When EMD was working on their 50-series locomotives in the late 1970's and early 1980's, they had four models they offered. The GP49, the SD49, the GP50 and the SD50. The 49's were only 12-cylinder models and were rated at 2,800 HP. Alaska Railroad purchased nine GP49's (the only nine units to ever be produced), and EMD never did end up producing any SD49's. Here is one of the nine GP49's running DIC (Dead-In-Consist) on BNSF's HPASSAG. The unit was retired in 2006 and is now headed for Houston, TX.

Coming toward the end of the journey down the Front Range Sub, this HPASSAG (Pasco, WA to Saginaw, TX) train is slowly crossing over Pecos Street just outside Utah Junction. The last two units are Alaska Railroad GP49's, being transported by BNSF to their new owner in Houston, TX.
