The wye and tracks can leads west toward Laramie, north toward Cheyenne, or south toward Denver. Here, the Big Boy makes a reverse move on the southeast leg of the wye, and will cross over to Main 3 for the ten mile reverse journey to Cheyenne. The train will continue a reverse move roughly 10 miles back to the yard at Cheyenne. UP police were present at Speer Jct, making sure to keep railfans back from the mainline. Right here, the tracks cross over BNSF's Front Range Subdivision. A northbound BNSF manifest was actually not too far off, but the timing was not quite right for an "over/under" shot. Once the entire train in on the Greeley Sub, it will make a reverse move toward Main 3, making a reverse move all the way to Cheyenne. A distance of roughly 10 miles. A new UP engineer just got on board the train and are preparing to depart for the Greeley Sub south to Denver. There is an Amtrak crew on board, but a UP "pilot" engineer is needed to ride with the Amtrak engineers as they are not as familiar with the route. For the eight mile reverse move, the train was good for 30 MPH, except through crossovers where it was restricted to about 15 MPH.
