The train is about to pass underneath CO-93 whose bridge was replaced about 15 years ago. The old bridge did not have a chain link fence along the road and allowed for photos from above the bridge. For those that are unaware, each rail that you see on this train is a single piece of steel about a quarter of a mile long. Each rail runs the length of the entire rail train. UP purchased 1000 of them in a single order in 2000 and added on to that order with a few hundred more. UP 4073 is one of the older SD70Ms on the roster. This is it! A train allows rail to be stacked 10 wide and 5 high, for a total of 50 strips of rail. With each strip roughly 1/4 mile long, that means the train has 12 1/2 miles of rail. Of course, there are two rails to make up the tracks, so that is 6 1/4 miles of track on this train. That is enough to replace all the rail in the Moffat Tunnel.
