This morning is a somewhat typical morning for a February day in the Denver area. The temperature is about 25°F and the skies are mostly cloudy as the Zephyr, running on time, heads west at track speed west of Leyden.

It seems that oil traffic is picking up a bit in Utah lately. BNSF has sent several loaded sand trains (for fracking) west and several loaded oil trains have rolled east. Another sand train went west on this day, headed for Wellington, UT.

A trio of EMD power (SD70ACe, SD70MAC, SD70ACe) leads this westbound loaded sand train past the old Mesa Oil plant located between Leyden and Rocky.

As we get further in to February, and days are staying lighter, longer, there is now just enough light to get a shot of the eastbound Zephyr in the evening (when it is on time). On this evening, the eastbound Zephyr is indeed on time as it rolls down the main at Leyden.
