Between the implementation of PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading) on UP and the decline of coal, unit coal trains are becoming increasingly rare on the Moffat. However, they have not completely vanished as is evidenced by this westbound empty coming through the west switch at Eisele (Clay).

This westbound coal empty has made the climb through the S-Curves at Coal Creek and is about to duck in to Tunnel 1. The train is following behind the Zephyr and a light power move headed for Grand Junction.

After meeting three westbounds between Winter Park and Granby, this BNSF Provo-Denver had clear signals the rest of the trip down the front range to Denver. Here, the train passes by secluded Oberon Lake just east of Kipling Street in Arvada.
