AMTK 79 just knocked down a Clear (green) signal at the east switch of Eisele (Clay). The Zephyr was running about 90 minutes late when it left Union Station, but will be 2 hours and 45 minutes late by the time it reaches Fraser due to slow orders.

The morning Zephyr has a trio of P42DCs, all elephant style, leading it up this morning. It is not entirely clear why the extra unit is on the train, but it usually for one of two reasons.

1) The unit was added somewhere along the route due to a mechanical issue with one of the two units originally on the train.

2) One of the units is being sent to California for use on the west coast, quite possibly the Coast Starlight.

Today, reason #2 is most likely the reason for the extra unit today.

The Zephyr rolls slowly west on the main at Eisele (Clay) alongside the radio tower located near the west end. The Zephyr is only moving along at 10 MPH due to level 2 heat restrictions. It is only mid-June, but the temperature is already 90°F (32°C) and it is not even 11am. Looking like it might be a scorcher of a summer!

At the west switch of Eisele (Clay), the westbound Zephyr continues on its journey west as we get a great overview of the area. In the distance, you can see Big Ten Loop, Little Ten Loop, and the west end of Rocky. To the left, you can also see CO-72.
