Rio Grande's (and later SP and UP's) Burnham shops were located quite close to Denver. UP closed the shop on February 14, 2016. Rumor has it that in 1996, UP made a deal with then Colorado governor Roy Romer, agreeing to keep the shop open for 20 years in exchange for Colorado not objecting to UP mothballing Tennessee Pass the following year in 1997.
The shops had a turntable that was still in use right up until the shops closed. The shops predate the 8th Avenue viaduct which, when built, had to be built around the south end of the main shops.

One of the pieces of machinery that was located at Burnham was a transfer crane that ran on rails. Most of the relevant parts have been auctioned off, but the piece of the crane that spans the ground between the rails still remains. (I am not a crane expert, so feel free to leave a comment with more information, should you have it!)

A look at the shops on the north side of Burnham. Burned down Building #3 is visible near the top of the frame. You can see where some tracks used to run, but all have since been pulled up. There are still two tracks (not used by Light Rail) on the top-right of the frame. UP uses these to access a few customers still in the area.

An overview of the Burnham property from the north side. You can see that a lot of rail used to run through the property, but evidence of them is disappearing as weeds overtake what is left on the property. Rumor has it that CDOT (the Colorado Department of Transportation) has purchased the property. For exactly what reason, it is not clear.

BNSF 7654 and train are currently stopped on Main 1 in the small town of Sedalia, CO on the Joint Line. The train lost communication with the ETD (End of Train Device, sometimes referred to as a FRED). Consequently, the crew cannot tell if the air brakes on the train are working properly as they cannot see the amount of air in the brake line at the end of the train. After 45 minutes or so, the problem would be worked out, and the train would continue.
