Anything look weird or out of place in this picture? The crossing gate for opposing traffic at the 66th Avenue grade crossing is stuck up. This crossing has a center median and "quad gates" because it is a quite zone. When working properly, trains do not use their horns at this crossing. However, since the crossing gate is malfunctioning, trains are currently using their horns here.

BNSF's Provo-Denver held the main at Plain for a meet with the westbound Zephyr. After the Zephyr cleared the east switch, the manifest received a clear (green) to continue east. Here, the train is out of Plain and rolling toward Tunnel 1.

BNSF 6391 and the rest of BNSF's Provo-Denver manifest approaches the west portal of Tunnel 1, through the S-Curves east of Plain. After several days of somewhat unstable weather, with quite a bit of wind over clouds, there isn't a cloud in the sky this morning, Independence Day 2024.

Just west of Eisele (Clay), a BNSF manifest (the Provo-Denver) heads east. The "X" on the sign to the right of the train is a reminder for westbounds that they are approaching the grade crossing at Blue Mountain Drive. The train is crossing the road, just out of the frame to the left, behind the trees.

A trio of elephant-style units (two ES44ACs with an SD70ACe in between) lead the eastbound BNSF Provo-Denver at the west switch of Eisele (Clay). The train has green signals ahead for the remainder of the journey in to Denver.

The familiar face of a GE...the same basic face of all GEs for the past three decades...leads an eastbound manifest out of the east end of Clay (Eisele). The train, which is close to 6,000 feet long, will wrap around Big Ten and continue down to Rocky and on in to Denver.

The head end of BNSF's Provo-Denver passes by the graffiti-covered hoppers that serve as a wind break on the inside of Big Ten Curve. The matched paint schemes and elephant style arrangement look really fantastic.
