A relatively short (60 car) coal load wraps its way through Little Ten Curve on the main track. Interestingly, the train symbol for this train (CWENY) shows it is only going as far as North Yard. Not sure why it is terminating there. I assume the train might be broken up and the coal sent to various customers.

A rather colorful coal train, with an assortment of various hoppers, heads east out of Rocky. The train only has 60 cars, and therefore has a trio of units on the point, and a single DPU bringing up the rear.

It is a beautiful September morning and the westbound Zephyr is running right on time as it heads west through the canyon between Rollins and Tolland. Fall colors here just east of Tolland are essentially at their peak.

UP 5281 leads an eastbound coal load, approaching the grade crossing at East Portal. The westbound Zephyr is holding at Tolland, waiting on the arrival of the train. Due to the steep grade at Winter Park, the coal train could not be held there. Fortunately, the delay to the Zephyr would only be about 25 minutes.
