The SD70MACs are DPU units controlled by the head end, while the SD70ACe is a manned unit that was added at Big Lift (just south of Denver). These train tend to be slightly underpowered and can be very slow climbing up to the Palmer Divide. Recently, BNSF has been running more of these trains with an additional manned unit on the tail end from Big Lift (south of Denver) to Palmer Lake.
