The train sat at Sable on the KP for three days due to two bad order cars. They were finally set out and the train made a dusk departure out of Denver. It took a lot of massaging in PhotoShop to get the picture into a state that was reasonably viewable! It was well past sunset at this point, and in fact twilight was nearly over. BNSF is repaying some horsepower-miles. The train was called at 3:00pm on this day, but didn't leave North Yard until about five minutes after sunset. This shot has an interesting effect, which is the result of 1600 ISO and very little light left! UP has kept all seven units together on the Moffat working on coal trains. Here, the units are set up in a 5x2 configuration on a coal empty waiting to leave the yard later in the afternoon. The stored power tends to be older power (SD40-2s, for example). As a result, newer power is showing up on jobs that would have operated under older power not long ago. Here is a perfect example. Nope! This coal train is 100% Union Pacific. BNSF is paying back UP some power-sharing hours. UP decided to keep all seven units together and here are five of the seven (the other two are bringing up the rear)! The train started off at the Cherokee Power Plant on the Belt Line and is headed for the Energy Mine on the Craig Branch.
