Not sure what the point of the special was, but here it is nonetheless! The train is near MP 10, coming around the big fill along Wadsworth Parkway. They are going to meet a southbound at Broomfield which is still nearly two hours away! So, to avoid blocking any crossing, the crew sits and patiently waits. This is a good place to stop as it is close to a new Super Target! Crew can go an get some shopping out of the way while waiting. I don't know if I just pay more attention when they face this way (since it is very annoying), but I guess you have to make the most outta what you get! One such reroute - headed for the Coal Creek Mine in Wyoming - passes by the station sign at Broomfield on the main track. Such was the case for me when I saw a headlight on the horizon on Main One. I was heading north on the I-25 Frontage Road (just south of Castle Rock). Upon seeing the headlight, I pulled over to get some shots, expecting a coal train. Much to my surprise, there was only a single ES44AC headed south! Not even sure exactly where it was off to... While southbounds have to work hard to climb the 1.2% ruling grade, northbounds get to glide down the same grade into Denver. As a result, Main Two tends to move a bit faster then Main One! In addition to the two C44-9Ws, the train as a GP60B in the consist. The GP60B's were produced in the early 1990s for Santa Fe and originally wore the Warbonnet scheme. All have since been repainted, but they are very likely the last cabless ("B") units that either EMD or GE will ever produce!
