An ES44AC, an SD70M, and a AC4400CW lead an eastbound manifest down Big Ten toward a clear signal at West Rocky. UP has started cutting up unit coal trains (that load on the North Fork Branch) and add 20-30 cars to the head end of eastbound manifests, as seen here.

About a year ago, UP eliminated the manifest trains between Denver and Salt Lake (over the Moffat). They do, however, still run manifests between Denver and Grand Junction. The eastbound (MGJNY) is coming around Big Ten Loop on it way in to Denver. With PSR (Precision Scheduled Railroading) in place, some of the cars on this train are actually headed for Salt Lake City!

The MGJNY is leaving Eisele behind and is approaching Big Ten Curve on its journey east toward North Yard. It will soon be heading toward the camera on the track to the left as it approaches West Rocky.

A trio of UP units leads the MGJNY at the east switch of Eisele (Clay). The Moffat is averaging about six trains a day lately, so after two Amtrak trains and two BNSF trains, that is leaving about two UP trains as well.

Approaching the west switch of Rocky, the California is running about two hours late, but has clear signals westbound. It'll meet an eastbound waiting in the siding at Tolland.

UP 1943, painted to honor the United States Armed Forces, leads an Officer's Special westbound at Tolland amidst some blossoming fall colors. Due to a cool and west June, the trees are turning colors much later in the season than normal. A high ranking UP official is retiring soon and is enjoying a private run from Denver to Grand Junction and back, courtesy of UP.

UP 1943 and UP 9072 lead an Officer's Special west on the Moffat at Leyden. A senior UP official is retired and UP is capping off his career with a run of this train that he and his family (and likely others) rode. The train ran from Denver to Grand Junction. Tomorrow, it will return to Denver.

Coming through Little Ten Loop, this rail train - interestingly running without a buffer car - is making its way west toward the west switch of Rocky.

This loaded rail train is restricted to 40 MPH, which should be no problem for these two units on the point. The train is about halfway through Rocky, passing the west end of the house track and the switch to the Rocky Spur.

A pair of ES44C4s lead a loaded rail train west at Rocky. Many people jokingly said rumor would start that BNSF is taking over maintenance on the Moffat, but this is just a train heading for San Bernardino in California and is taking the former Grande for routing.

BNSF made an interesting routing choice with loaded rail train. The train is headed for San Bernardino in California, but to get there will run west to Stockton, CA and then south over Tehachapi, through Barstow, and down Cajon to San Bernardino.
