These units are particularly good in yard service as they are not equipped with dynamic brakes. This makes them less useful as road power over much of UP's system. This power was brand new in the 1980's ... these days, you can still find this power on the mainline. In fact, this particular unit went east of the Limon Sub to Salina, KS later in the day. An example was sitting in North Yard on the ready track on this particular afternoon. UP 2463 was delivered in 1992 as UP 6308. SD70MACs used to rule on BNSF coal trains. Now, AC4400CWs, ES44ACs and SD70ACes are on coal trains all the time. I thought it was a nice bonus that both units were wearing the Heritage II scheme.
