The two units in the foreground were just delivered back to North Yard from Burnham after a standard 92-day inspection. Other power is serviced in the distance.

I thought that this was worth posting because it is a sight that is becoming less and less common! SD70MACs used to rule on BNSF coal trains. Now, AC4400CWs, ES44ACs and SD70ACes are on coal trains all the time. I thought it was a nice bonus that both units were wearing the Heritage II scheme.

Wow! This unit hasn't been around too terribly long and it has already been beat up quite a bit. This is a Kansas City Southern de Mexico SD70ACe in the "Retro Belle" scheme on the Denver to Kansas City manifest.

Coming around the wye from Prospect Jct, a trio of C44-9W's lead the eastbound MPVODEN. The train just came across the Moffat from Provo, UT and is about to pull into the yard at Denver, the sun getting low in the afternoon sky.

A badly washed out Warbonnet sits on the service track near the diesel shop in Denver. Unfortunately, the majority of Warbonnets look more like this these days. Closer to white and pink rather than silver and red!

A Norfolk Southern C40-9W was hanging out with BNSF power near the diesel shops. Norfolk Southern ordered their Dash-9s from GE with 4,000 HP instead of 4,400 HP, hence the C40-9W designation instead of the typical C44-9W designation.

One of the originally painted Heritage Units hangs out on the ready track at BNSF's Diesel Shop. With the yard shut down, it probably won't be going anywhere for a few days!

The second extremely clean warbonnet that I've seen in the past week was sitting near the shops in BNSF's yard. Not sure where it would be off to next, but here's hopping it stays looking this good for awhile to come.

I thought it was interesting that I happened to see this Norfolk Southern unit hanging out in Denver. Why? Because it is the exact same unit on shot on the Pueblo-Provo the day before Thanksgiving! Looks like it made the round trip back to Denver from Provo.

I was surprised to come across this Great Western GP20MQ hanging out near BNSF's diesel shop in Denver. Not exactly sure where the unit was headed, but it was a nice change of pace.

I noted a freshly-painted HLCX GP38-2 sitting near the shops at North Yard. This is an interesting unit in that it appears to be a GP40-2 (three radiator fans, etc), there are two exhaust stacks. This shows the un-turbocharged GP38-2 prime mover.

You can't go wrong with the Warbonnet paint scheme! It was great when ATSF (and even BNSF) briefly brought the scheme back in the 1990s. This SD75M was one of the units lucky enough to get the Warbonnet scheme.

Just in case you wake up one morning and you are not sure what city you are in, you can always check to see if you can see the Quest Building. If you can, you're in Denver! Power for the Denver to Green River (WY) train sits waiting for a crew...and a train!

A yard job works on switching cars out at 36th Street Yard. However, you won't find anybody in the cab of UP 712. This is a remote switch job and the RCL operator is on the ground at the opposite end of the string of cars, throwing switches.

Even though it is only 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the sun is getting very low in the western sky. An ES44AC and a pair of SD70Ms have been fueled and are ready to lead the MDVSI from Denver to Salina, KS.
