The train will be rebranded from the Rockies to the Red Rocks to the Canyon Spirit. The train, for the first time, rolls by the Amtrak platform in Helper on Main 1. It was delivered as a GP40 (not a GP40-2) to Baltimore and Ohio in November 1966 as B&O 3692. It was briefly on the Chessie roster after the B&O and C&O merger, and then wound up on the CSX roster as CSX 6508. CSX then sold the unit to Espee and it changed colors and roster number, becoming SP 7114. Now, it has found new life as it has been rebuilt to GP40-2 specifications, designated as a GP40N. For several decades, units like this (former) GP38-2 are now used in switching and local service. UP 801 was originally built as MP 2301.
