This westbound ballast train was setup in a 3x2 configuration. However, when it started pulling out of the siding at Rocky, the drawbar on the front of the lead ballast car broke, and the train went into emergency. Fortunately, the train was not further west when it broken, as there is a chance the train would've blocked the mainline.

After meeting a two-hour late Zephyr at Rocky, the West Local is at the west end of Leyden and is headed back to Denver with four gondolas. The local spotted two gondolas with tie plates and some MOW equipment in the house track at Rocky, and is now returning to North Yard. The lead unit is UP 1357. This particular GP40-2 is very familiar with the Moffat. It started life as DRGW 3102, delivered to the Grande in April 1972.
