UP's Denver, CO to Salina, KS manifest is all set to depart Denver. The only thing it is missing is a track warrant! A coal empty is coming in off the Limon Sub and the manifest here has to wait (in spectacular light that only lasted another 90 seconds).

This SW1000 comes from Western Rail Leasing. I honestly have no idea where it is headed, but it was sitting all by its lonesome in BNSF's yard.

Today, it is ES44ACs and SD70ACes ... 15 years ago, it was SD60Ms! An example was sitting in North Yard on the ready track on this particular afternoon. UP 2463 was delivered in 1992 as UP 6308. In April 2007, this unit got kicked out of the 6300-series to make room for future deliveries.

Somewhat obscured by trees, BNSF's HDENLAU (Denver, CO to Laurel, MT) is working on assembling its train in the yard. Once its air test is complete, it'll head north toward the Front Range Sub and points beyond.

This northbound manifest has a really nice consist with an H1 C44-9W followed by a pair of New Image ES44DC's. The train is approaching Walnut Street and will pull up to 20th Street to wait for permission to enter the yard.

Kicking up some snow and running on a clear signal! This southbound coal load is approaching Kalamath Street near I-25 and Alameda Avenue. For those not familiar with the area, I'm well clear of the track, shooting through a curve with 300mm lens!

This southbound has the first mile of its 120 mile journey south to Pueblo in the bag! A new SD70ACe, with ice cycles hanging off the radiator housing, approaching Walnut Street in Denver. The train is currently copying a warrant to proceed into the Track Warrant limits around MP 12.

After getting a fresh crew on board, this eastbound coal load is departing Bypass 1 on a clear signal. The train will head for the KP Line (Limon Sub) on its way to Adams, TX. Typically, this coal train would have gone south on the Joint Line, but is being re-routed due to a derailment.

A UP work train consisting of gondolas (for debris), ballast and track panels heads south (as seen at the Broadway Light Rail station). The train will assist in the rebuilding of the tracks through the Littleton trench after the BNSF derailment about 36 hours earlier.

This is General Electric's demo unit for the ES44DC model. It roams around on various systems and I was really glad that I finally lucked out and caught it as the third unit on the MNYNP!

This GP38-2 has found second life as a leaser for Helm Leasing. It was the second unit out on the MNYNP, headed for North Platte, NE.

Talk about a colorful consist on the MNYNP! Out of the five units, only one of the five is actually Union Pacific. Note the third unit, GECX 2011, General Electric's ES44DC demo unit.

The two units in the foreground were just delivered back to North Yard from Burnham after a standard 92-day inspection. Other power is serviced in the distance.
