At the Broadway and I-25 Light Rail station, the new Light Rail tracks for the "TREX" (TRransportation EXpansion) project break off from the existing line. This new extension of the system is schedule to open in November 2006!

This is the first Wisconsin Central unit that I have ever seen in person. I believe that this SD45 might still have its 20-cylinder (3600 HP) prime mover! The unit led the "kick den" (KCKDEN) intermodal train from Kansas City to Denver early in the day.

A rather shabby looking GP35 and a very clean looking GP30 bring in the "BN Transfer" train from UP at North Yard. The units will take the train down into 38th street for classification.

BNSF 8070 somehow wound up with a very unique nose patch. The white stripes were removed and the old BNSF herald was added in their place. On this day, the unit was the second of two SD40-2's switching 38th street in Denver.

SPSF? Okay, maybe not quite. However, two engines from one possible future sit near each other at the house in BNSF's yard. Ironically, the Espee unit has been patched UP and the Santa Fe unit has been patched BNSF!

Typically, the BNSF "Beer Run" leaves Golden in the morning to come east into Denver. This was not a typical Sunday, however, as the Beer Run started the day out in Denver. Here, the train passes underneath I-25 as it departs 38th street and heads north.

When leaving Denver, BNSF's Denver to Laurel train passes through brief pockets of CTC before hitting track warrant territory on the Front Range Sub. This HDENLAU-09 has just passed through one of those territories as it proceeds north on the BNSF New North Main.

I love what a polarizer can do for a picture! With the behind the camera, the blue in the sky is very vibrant! Note that this coal empty has second generation power (CEFX 2802, a former UP SD40-2 and HLCX 5969, a former UP/CNW SD60)…and that's it!

CSX 50 is stopped at Ulster street, waiting for 36th street to grant permission for this coal empty to pass through the yard. It was quite a treat to find a train with pure CSX power, even if it was only two units!

Up until August 12, 2005, this was DRGW 3109. While it is unfortunately that it now wears a large yellow patch, at least it still has a complete light package! Here, the unit is idling quietly in UP's 36th Street Yard.
