At that time, the bridge carried one lane of traffic each direction. In 2018, the bridge was doubled in width, and there are now two lanes in each direction on the bridge. The train is approaching the former (and possibly future) location of Sandown Junction. It was here that the Rock Island would leave the KP Line to head for the Belt Line and connect with DRGW. Sometimes, on the other hand, it can really work to your advantage! There have been quite a few afternoon thunderstorms in the Denver area the last week or two, and the water is building up in places. This coal empty is working its way west on the last four miles of its track warrant. It will wind up on "Bypass One" and cut Pecos Street near North Yard. From there, The Rock would takes its own tracks to the Belt Line to interchange with the Rio Grande in North Yard. Today, all that remains of Sandown Junction is this sign just east of Ulster Street along the KP main.
