This first tunnel on the former Rio Grande is 366 feet long. As you can see, short enough for both ends of the Zephyr to be outside the tunnel. This subdivision has been rumored for 20 years, but only recently started to come to fruition. An eastbound oil train descends down the 2% grade from Tunnel 1 as the intersection of Moffat Road and Canyon Pines Drive is in the foreground, the asphalt having been laid for the new roads. The lack of cloud cover has resulted in a nose dive in temperature, with it only being 14°F (-10°C) outside. It would be hard to be the view looking out of the Zephyr then on a morning like this.
