The train is on Bypass 2 here between C&S Junction and Pecos Crossover. Normally, BNSF trains would be on Main 3 (next track to the left). However, the westbound Zephyr is just about to depart Denver, and the oil train is facing a red signal at the Pecos Crossover signal bridge. BNSF 5696 is leading BNSF's Denver to Laurel, MT is at the start of the Front Range Sub. It will take the train north to Cheyenne, WY (and beyond). Meanwhile, UP power is getting ready to tie on to some cars that will create UP's North Yard to Green River, WY manifest. That train will depart across this same diamond on the other track, and ultimately head north to Cheyenne, WY as well, on its way to Green River, WY. A northbound BNSF manifest crosses UP's Belt Line, proceeding north toward the Front Range Sub. The westbound Zephyr is on time as it also crosses the Belt Line, but on the Moffat Main. In the distance, UP is putting together the MNYGR. When it is ready to go, it will depart toward the camera on the Belt Line, across the Moffat and BNSF's main. Here at the east end of Gore Canyon, the land opens up into Middle Park, with relatively wide open spaces for the next 18 miles or so, until reaching Byers Canyon. A few weeks back, the train struck an oil tar truck in Rifle, CO, damaging the two Canyon Spirit GP40-3s. The SD70Ms that the Canyon Spirit are borrowing from Union Pacific don't necessarily look the best, but it is great that they have an option available so the train can continue to run. UP 4296 and UP 4519 are the (temporary) power on the Canyon Spirit. The units are filling in for the typical GP40-3s, which are currently getting repairs done after striking a truck in Rifle, CO several weeks ago.
