With the signal now yellow (an Approach aspect), the unit throttle up and start accelerating. These 12 units make four sets of three swing helpers. After the sun dipped behind the mountains, the clouds came alive with a wonderful array of oranges turning to pinks. Note the Denver skyline in the distance. A westbound did wind up coming through here about 10 minutes after I took this shot. By then, the color from the clouds had gone. Here, the train has receive authority to enter the out of service limits (west of Leyden) and proceed west at restricted speed (~10 MPH). Sometimes, even the manifests get stuck with AC's, but more often then not there is something interesting to see! This was one of the few eastbound trains to come into town this morning due to a derailment on the Belt Main the night before.
