This northbound is crossing 10th Street in Greeley, passing right next to the Greeley Freight Station Museum. If you haven't visited the museum and get the chance to in the future, I highly recommend going. It is an amazing experience. The mainline on the HO layout is 28 scale miles long.

EMD was the king of diesel-electric locomotives until 1987 when GE passed EMD and has pretty well stayed ahead since. Therefore, it is somewhat unusual to find a solid set of EMDs on a train these days. That made this train particularly cool with it's quartet of EMD power.

In the town of Eaton, this southbound is stopped at the Lucerne Hold Signal waiting for a clear signal before continuing so as not to block any grade crossings. The first half the train is auto racks and the second half is good old fashion manifest.

This UP funeral train crosses the 10th street grade crossing in Greeley, right next to the Greeley Freight Station Museum. The train was moving fairly slowly by the museum and it drew a bit of a crowd out too!

In this string of 17 tunnel motors headed for retirement, there was a single patched Espee unit. UP 8726 was originally delivered as SP 8526 in December 1978.

Even though it has received a full repaint, you can tell that this was originally a Rio Grande tunnel motor because it has a chopped fuel tank. The space between the lead truck and the fuel tank was unique to the Rio Grande T-2's.

A overhead roster shot of UP 2882 heading south through Greeley. This was once DRGW 5342, but has obviously undergone some changes. In additional to being patched, note the class lights and Mars lights have been removed.

This is a shot that I've been wanting to get now for a couple of year and I was really happy that if worked out this year. The Frontier Days Special approaches Sand Creek where the UP Greeley Sub crosses over the BNSF Brush Sub.
