Amtrak 6 is just leaving the east end of Whitehouse in the Utah desert as a lightning bolt strikes the ground due to a severe thunderstorm in the distance. On this day, Amtrak had the private car the Scottish Thistle as the last car on the train.

The Potash Local crosses the bridge just east of Whitehouse as the train moves from white fluffy clouds and blue sky to dark blue thunder clouds.

After completing its switching moves at Brendel, the Potash Local is backing down the siding heading for the east end. The train will enter the mainline and then proceed down the Cane Creek Sub to Potash.

The sun was out and the clouds were beautiful as the Denver-Stockton passes underneath US-6 at track speed. In the distance, the Book Cliffs look great in the afternoon sunlight.

A westbound Utah Railway coal load is climing the steep 2% grade in Price River Canyon. For help, five swing helpers have been cut into the train at Martin for the 20 mile push to Colton. At Colton, the units will be cut out and return to Martin for their next assignment.

With the sun nearing the western horizon, UP 6774 highballs the signal at the crossover of Narrows. The train is currently running the "wrong way", proceeding west on Main Two. The train crossed over at Gilluly to avoid maintenance on Main One.
