With the cleanup of Rocky Flats long since complete and the loss of a customer (Mesa Oil moved from their location on Chem Spur), there is only one customer left for the local to serve. The aggregate plant at the north end of the Rocky Spur. With the loss of business and decrease in rail demand, this is only the second West Local of the year! And it only has five covered hoppers. A blizzard the previous day left 12-16 inches of new snow in the area. UP 1349 is no stranger to this territory! This was DRGW 3128 until it was patched nearly ten years ago. The West Local, with a quintet of covered hoppers, is headed west on the main at Leyden, moving at track speed. The power will run around the train at Rocky (rather than backing up the Rocky Spur).
