Note the headlight of a eastbound in the distance. That train had to stop after tripping a hotbox detector. The conductor had to walk the train and the westbound is rolling by slowly as a result. This UP 4-8-4 "Northern" class steam engine is almost 72 years old! Of those 72 years, the engine spent roughly 15 years in actual active service. However, the train made a stop in Greeley to check out 844 and make sure everything was running correctly. Ever wondered why? This shot might help to answer that question somewhat! As you can see, traffic builds up on US-85, parallel to the tracks. Some people enjoy pacing the steam engine (in both lanes), making it virtually impossible for those in back to get ahead to the next shot.
